You Can Do It! The Merit Badge Handbook for Grown-Up Girls is a book that urges women to “Dare to dream. Learn something new. Do something just for you!” From practical skills, like building a website and budgeting, and hobbies, like sewing and traveling, to talents, like acting and playing an instrument, and challenges, like fire walking, this dream-daring and hope-inspiring guide is a collection of activities for a woman to try in her adult life.
You Can Do It! inspires readers to try each given activity by encouraging her to imagine herself doing it. For each task, an appropriate expert serves as a mentor and shares advice to equip the reader with specific tips to get started. The accomplishment badges at the end of each segment are extra incentives.
This handbook was published in honor or Lauren Catuzzi Grandcolas, who was known for living her life to the fullest: constantly tackling new things and sharing her endless love with family and friends. Her sisters refer to her as “a heroine of United flight 93” on September 11, 2001. As they share in the book’s preface, “Lauren imagined a book that would boost women’s self-esteem by helping them achieve their goals, realize their dreams, and embrace life’s joys and challenges to the fullest.” Her family made sure to make Lauren’s dream a reality with the intention that other women would bring each of their own dreams to reality as well.
Now is the time to try something you’ve always wanted to.
